Marseille ready to test Celtic’s resolve with a £13.5m bid for striker Moussa Dembele

MARSEILLE are reportedly poised to make a £13.5million bid for Moussa Dembele.

Celtic can no longer offer Champions League action to Dembele after their defeat to AEK Athens on Tuesday night.

And L’Equipe report that Marseille are ready to offer Dembele, 22, a return to his homeland before the end of the European window.

No offer has yet been made by the Ligue 1 side, who have qualified for the Europa League group stage.

But the report claims that an offer of £13.5m is expected to be enough to net the France Under-21 striker.

Mario Balotelli is another target for Marseille but his club Nice have rejected OM’s two opening offers.

Brighton, Everton and Crystal Palace showed an interest in former Fulham star Dembele last January.

But no bids were accepted and he remained in Glasgow – despite Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers admitting his player’s head had been turned.

Dembele will not be moving to the Premier League on a permanent deal this window, although he could still arrive on loan.

He could sign permanently for a non-English European club until the end of August.
