Paul Scholes tips Manchester United to lose at Chelsea in their crunch Premier League clash – and rips ex-Red Devil for backing Jose Mourinho’s side

PAUL SCHOLES believes Manchester United will lose their vital Premier League clash with Chelsea tomorrow.

Jose Mourinho takes his side to Stamford Bridge on Saturday desperate for a win to revive hopes of fighting it out in the top four.

United are already seven points adrift of the leaders and five outside of the Champions League qualifying places – so defeat could inflict a major blow on their hopes for the remainder of the season.

But United legend Scholes fears his old club are going to come away from West London empty-handed.

Asked for his tip on Robbie Savage’s Premier League Breakfast on Five Live, Scholes said: “One-nil Chelsea.”

Fellow guest Ben Thornley, a Class of 92 team-mate at United and still working for the club, predicted a 2-1 win for Mourinho’s side.

And Scholes responded: “Tell the truth Ben.”

Scholes, an open critic of United this season, added: “When you got to Stamford Bridge when the team is flying and full of confidence, it’s always going to be a hard game.

“Chelsea look very good at the moment, although United can take confidence from the second half against Newcastle. It may have only been against a team second from bottom of the league, but they can grasp on to something.

“There was that penalty and then a fine David De Gea save, so United really could have been 4-0 down at half-time.

“They have to take confidence from that second half which was really good and probably the best of the season.

“But Chelsea is a different story. I just hope we are defensively right and that may then give the forwards a chance to win the game.”
