ROBINHO is the latest in a long line of Brazilian footballers whose careers have not matched up to the talent they showed at a young age.
But the former Man City star’s story is a uniquely shameful one after he was sentenced to nine years in an Italian prison.

Who is Robinho?
Robinho was arguably Brazilian football’s brightest young prospect when he burst onto the scene at Santos in 2002.
Held in a similar regard at the club to Neymar ten years later, he earned a £20m move to Real Madrid in 2005.
The striker enjoyed a reasonably successful spell at the Bernabeu but fumed when he was offered to Man United as a makeweight in Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to the Spanish capital.
Robinho then rejected a new deal and agitated for a move to Chelsea.
Ultimately, he completed a £32.5m move to Man City on September 1, 2008.
On his debut for the club he scored a brilliant free kick against Chelsea, before netting a hat-trick against Stoke City the following month.
But he eventually became unsettled in Manchester and moved on loan to Santos in January 2010.
In August the same year, he moved permanently to AC Milan for £15m.
The striker now plies his trade at Atletico Mineiro.

As the striker currently plies his trade in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, it will be up to Brazilian authorities to decide whether to extradite him to Italy.
Under Italian law, Robinho will also be able to lodge two appeals against the sentence before he serves time in prison.
